Dual Battery
System
Want to run a fridge
and accessories?
As you can see from
the picture we can manage to fit a full size auxiliary battery into the Patrol.
Charging is controlled by a Rotronics MH10 unit mounted next to the
radiator overflow bottle. The control unit charges the main battery first
and then the auxiliary. By monitoring the voltage in both batteries it then
allows the alternator to give power where it is needed. The MH10 system is
compatible for winch operation, protects vehicle computers and components
from electrical spikes and has an overload cutoff to prevent the alternator
overcharging. All main cables in the system are protected with fusible links.
If a battery cable is cut in an accident the link melts thus preventing sparks
flying everywhere possibly causing a fire. This is a fully automatic system.
All you need to do is regularly check the level of the fluid in the batteries.
Auxiliary power
outlets
As the standard Nissan power
outlet is still connected to the original battery we recommend fitting extra
power outlets. We run heavy duty cabling inside the vehicle from the auxiliary
battery with a heavy duty fuse positioned near the battery. A Hella
power outlet is fitted neatly into the rear trim. Also supplied is one male
plug which gives a secure fit in the socket that will not vibrate out on
rough roads. We can also supply multiple outlets as requested.
Other Options
We have solutions to other
dual battery requirements such as second or third batteries in camper trailers
and caravans plus units with fast charge times. Please contact us for more
information on these products. There will be a solution that can be tailored
to your specific needs. |
